Storytime with Anna-Christina
Music Audio Stories presents Storytime with Anna-Christina!
Storytime is presented by me, Anna-Christina, the author and narrator of Music Audio Stories! I began doing Storytime at nurseries and schools to test my audiobooks. I wanted to see first hand, how children interacted with them. I then set about writing more stories with what I had learned, which is why my stories have been such a hit with children and teachers!
I do a mix of listening, learning, drawing, drama, singing, and dancing. I cover a number of skills e.g: social interaction, developing self-confidence, and encourage children to use their imagination. My Storytimes are fun, engaging, interactive, creative, and educational. All of my music audiobooks instil positive messages as I think this is very important for children growing up. My background in performing arts helps with song, dance, and drama and I love working with children.
I have done 210 Storytimes! I have taught 3855 children at nurseries, schools, and libraries all over London. I have had successful workshops at the Barbican Centre, with the Polka Children's Theatre and at fairs and festivals. Storytime with Anna-Christina has become so popular, I have requests for weekly and monthly visits! I love being a storyteller!
I take part in many community events such as Family Fundraisers and the Baby & Children's Market UK but one of the most fun things I do is Storytime at libraries! I want to do my part to help keep libraries alive and buzzing by offering my Storytime to the public for free. I believe libraries are important places, not just for children but for everyone!
It's lovely to do Storytime with parents involved as I also love to see how they react to my audiobooks! I'm pleased to see they are as popular with parents as they are with children and this makes me very happy indeed! My Storytimes at libraries happen during the holidays and half-term holidays!

Schools and Nurseries
All of my stories have different themes, which at times connect to the children’s learning programs at schools and nurseries. Some stories are ideal for use at the beginning of the school year when new children are settling in. Others are energetic with movement and dance. However, they all stimulate listening abilities, observation skills, and children's imagination!
Valuable lessons are taught throughout my Storytime, and children learn about animals and insects, as well as other life lessons depending on the story. Some of my audiobooks have cheerful songs to aid with the lessons being taught and children enjoy singing and dancing along. Occasionally I use props and visual aids.
My sessions compliment Key Stage 1 and areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
I cover a wide range of ages from nursery and preschool groups aged 2 to 5, to school groups aged 5 to 7 (Year One and Two). My lesson plan varies according to the age group. I ensure all children have individual attention which is why I usually do groups of around 20 children at a time. Although, I have had Storytime with up to 40 children in one session and library groups are often large too! Last year I had 100 people at one of my workshops at Hammersmith Library!
After every first visit, I publish children’s drawings in an art gallery, making them a part of my creative world! This is popular with parents! At subsequent visits, children take their drawings home.

Children's Theatre, Festivals, And Fairs
I was invited to do workshops, including a Christmas Special, with the Polka Children's Theatre. Learning and participation are at the heart of Polka’s work, encouraging children to explore and develop creatively. This is why my Storytime is a perfect fit for their workshops.
My Circus Storytime, in particular, works very well in the children's theatre environment, as the theatrical theme is strong throughout.
I have also been invited to do my Storytime at fairs and festivals! As well as doing Storytime with the children, Music Audio Stories have had stalls at all of the events too! This means major multitasking for me but it works well. Children can take part in my workshop and then their parents can visit our stall and see our special offers and musical gifts.
A highlight for me was when I did my Storytime with the children inside the beautiful chapel at the Brompton Annual Open Day. It was truly magical! Another highlight was my workshops at the Redmond Community Centre at the Hidden River Festival 2019.
I have a number of stories tailored for different seasons throughout the year. 'Christmas Magic' is perfect for Christmas performances (which I have done at Treetops Nursery and other workshops). The audiobook includes a sing-along song that the children learn quickly. It incorporates Christmas themes such as giving and sharing.
'Chris the Caterpillar' is used in the summer when children are learning about the colours of flowers and spending more time outdoors. My story 'Weird and Wonderful' works well for Halloween. It teaches children about the less popular bugs such as centipedes and slugs and the importance of us not stepping on the insects! Plus children love to draw spiders in their webs!
The recent addition to this category is my Easter story called 'Easter Egg Hunt'. It was a hit on my Easter Library Tour 2019!
What's On 4 Kids Award Winner 2019
Over the last decade, the What's On 4 Kids Awards have celebrated the UK’s most exceptional kids’ clubs and classes as voted for by the experts – the parents and carers. Finalists, sponsors, and special guests are brought together for an awards ceremony in London. The ceremony is a celebration for children's activities professionals, their teams and the sector as a whole.
This year a massive 80,000 parents and carers voted. I was delighted to win 'Most Loved Volunteer' - open to an individual providing children's activities anywhere in the UK on a voluntary basis.
My award was presented by Ben Sutcliffe, the Director of Executive Projects at Caudwell Children (who sponsored my award category).
I cannot tell you how honoured and proud I am to receive this amazing award! I love visiting libraries with my Storytime and I put a tremendous amount of time and energy into organising my events for children all over London. To be recognised for my hard work is truly heartwarming.
I am super proud of how far my Storytime has come and the journey continues to take me to magical places!

"It was so interesting, the story was amazing, the children were sitting down without moving and listening nicely. They had a lot of fun and Anna-Christina interacted with them so well. It's something really interesting because they use a bit of their own imagination."Silvia Labra - Bubbly Day Nursery
