A Wonderful Storytime

Weird & Wonderful at Kentish Town Library!

I made some time during the last half-term holiday in October to visit Kentish Town Library with my Storytime. All of my previous sessions at London libraries have had good turnouts but the fact that over 10% of UK libraries are currently under threat, is a worry!

I feel that libraries are important places, not just for our children but for everyone. This is the reason why I want to help to keep them alive.

My Storytime sessions at the libraries are free for families to attend. They are a great way to entertain the children whilst also helping to bring the community together and promote the library all at the same time.

My visit to Kentish Town Library was lovely! It was leading up to Halloween and so I chose to do my Halloween-inspired story Weird and Wonderful. In this story, the children learn about the less popular insects and not to step on them! It is an excellent story for teaching how insects look. I use visual aids to help. Once we have talked about the story and how the insects look, the children are enthusiastic about doing their drawings.

I enjoyed Storytime with the children so much. I do many sessions throughout the year at schools and nurseries but it is lovely to do Storytime with parents involved as I also love to see how they react to my audiobooks! I'm pleased to see they are as popular with parents as they are with children and this makes me very happy indeed!

Thank you to Chris Keys, Richard and the staff for a wonderful Storytime at Kentish Town Library.

💚 Anna-Christina
