National Library Week

This week is National Library Week, so this blog post is dedicated to libraries. I love libraries! They are wonderful places to go and read, learn, and take part in fun events. I started doing my Storytime at libraries after I attended an author event. I ended up chatting with one of the librarians, who suggested I visit with my Storytime. I was already an experienced storyteller, as I had been visiting nurseries and schools but the prospect of doing Storytime with parents involved excited me!

My first public event was on 10th May 2014. I was invited to the launch of the new Acton Town Hall. I took part in an all-day, fun event that mixed various forms of entertainment for families and the community. My Storytime took place in their newly refurbished library and I remember thinking it was quite strange to be doing Storytime with the children's parents watching but they were impressed and spent time with me afterwards asking questions about Music Audio Stories.

Over the last few years, I have visited most libraries in and around London and my Storytime has become popular. Sometimes, I have groups of children as large as 50 which definitely keeps me on my toes! I have always loved children's libraries. To me, they are places of wonderment, joy and discovery. It has been an honour for me to have had the opportunity to visit so many libraries. Check out my library's video below...
